Illustrator Sarah Brannen

Recently, we had a wonderful Illustrator Sarah Brannen come to our classroom to speak about her process of illustrating books and how she helps make books come alive through their pictures. We had Mrs. Holly's 2nd grade class join us and we were able to see some of the illustrations Sarah did for her most recent book, The Pig Scramble.

She also was kind enough to teach our class how to draw a pig, and she showed us her artistic skills by drawing many animals that the class requested.

She drew a lion, a turtle, a dragon, and herself!

Here is a glimpse at the thank you note Sarah sent us. It's absolutely stunning:

And then we sent her a card in return... (adding a little bit of our own artwork!!):

A huge THANK YOU to Jenna's mom for organizing this for our class!

  1. Your card is great! The drawings are so well done. I'm sure she will love her thank you card.
